quantum leap
this weekend was pretty uneventful. i felt like i needed to do something so i found myself leaping from subway to subway, striving to put right what once went wrong, and hoping each time that my next leap will be the leap home…
here are some random pictures from today.

7 am
i have been working the late night shift this past week. usually i would go straight home after work. this morning i decided to ride from midtown to central park in the 13 degree weather. i did one loop through the park before heading home. it felt like my face was going to fall off but there is nothing like riding in the city while the sun is rising.
thank you
just received some goodies from joe and sas.
sightings
panasonic on st. marks. interesting way to keep your saddle secure. dude is either a cop or has a bdsm fetish. i kid, i kid.
ninja new york
i took jenny out to ninja new york this weekend. this restaurant is interesting to say the least. if you like ninjas, magic, fire, and getting the shit scared out of you, you should definitely check out this restaurant. the food wasn’t bad either.
i asked the ninja waitress if i could take a picture of her and jenny together. she said yes, disappeared, and never came back. we...
weekend with jenny
jenny was in town for the weekend. it was her birthday earlier this month and i told her i would take her out if she came out here. i still don’t really know where to go and what to do but i did my best and i think she had a good time. it was a short but fun weekend. it was definitely good seeing her.
mlk
this monday was martin luther king’s day. what better way to celebrate the man’s legacy with a relaxing ride around the city and dollar ale at epsteins.
sag life x las vegas
check out this old blog entry from sag. i took maki and yoshi out to the red rock loop when they came out to las vegas. it is a 17 mile scenic loop through red rock national park. if you’re ever in las vegas with a bike make sure to ride this beast of a trail. not that i’m a strong rider but i have yet to conquer this thing without having to walk my bike a couple of times. i...
patagonia
patagonia is having a 30% sale on all their winter apparel to make way for their spring line. get yours!
i’m pretty stoked about this jacket. i’ve been looking for a while for a good jacket. it’s not as thick as i would want it to be but i think a few layering and i’m good to go. this will be my everyday outfit for the rest of winter and some of spring, patagonia...
bike portraits
angelo’s homie jaeho and the korean posse were all chilling at chari & co yesterday. they all had nice bikes so we ended up doing a mini photo shoot outside the shop.
summer in the winter
it was really nice out today so a few of us decided to go on a ride. we met up in williamsburg and headed over to fort green park. we chilled there for a bit before we made our way to downtown brooklyn. i’ve never really been around brooklyn so that was definitely dope. we made our way back to the city and stopped by chari and co. then off to the trail along the hudson. definitely a...
house of commons x me
a few months ago i designed a shirt for house of commons. which by the way sounds weird because i am not at all a graphic designer.
i was inspired by koichi yamaguchi. i took the sun logo and messed with the font to create the graphics for the shirt. i think it played out really well. it’s now available at house of commons. go get yours and while you’re at it be sure to pick up...
las vegas as i remember it. good times indeed.
introducing yutaka
this is yutaka-san. he is a messenger for cyclex inc. and a sponsored w-base rider. i met him out in tokyo last year. he was kind enough to show me around the city and he introduced me to some of the guys from his office and a few fellows from w-base and carnival. over the weekend, chris took me to a japanese bookstore on 42nd street. i was going through some magazine and came across an...
28°F high, 16°F low
very cold weekend but the sun was out so i decided to ride around. i met up chris on saturday and we rode through the city. we ended up in downtown brooklyn hanging out with adam. i also met up chris and rex on sunday and just chilled.
it was a good weekend. snotsicles and frozen toes aside.
every time i’m out and about i always make sure i have an eye out on my bike every time i lock up to go eat. but i guess that’s just common sense.
meet ernie
for some reason strange people like to talk to me while i’m in the subway. this is ernie. we were talking about track bikes. he was telling me how he has a 1969 french track bike in mint condition. i was trying to call him out to see if he was bull shitting but he seems to know what he was talking about. i offered to buy it and he said maybe in the future. so ernie gave me his number...
i miss not working. i was with out a job for about a month or so when i first moved out here to nyc. one of those days i met up a bunch of people and we rode from manhattan over the george washington bridge to new jersey and ended up somewhere in upstate new york. it was a good ride. the scenery was so dope i went back the next day with my camera and shot some pictures. enjoy.

about a month ago i met up massan and eugene at some graffiti shop in chinatown. they were selling old mta model subway cars. i’ve always wanted to paint one so i bought one a few days later and decided to give it a try. its actually harder than it looks using deco markers but i think it turned out pretty decent. this one is for jenny.

3 a.m. subway rides are the best! you get to meet a whole heap of interesting people.
i went to japan last year and i had a chance to watch keirin racing in the rain! here is a short clip of that visit. sadly, i have just gotten news that the kagetsuen velodrome will be closing its doors to make way for residential quarters.
